Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Eight Suspects, Recover Arms In Kaduna and Delta

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major successes in its clampdown on kidnapping and gun running, following a string of intelligence-led operations in Kaduna and Delta States.

The operations, which were carried out by specialised tactical units, led to the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers, the recovery of sophisticated weapons, and the rescue of a kidnapped victim.

In Kaduna State, police operatives swung into action after the abduction of one Hussaini Ibrahim from Jagindi Tasha village in Jema’a Local Government Area.

The victim was rescued when his abductors abandoned him in a nearby forest as officers closed in.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of four suspects, Umar Yusuf Jabiri of Jagindi Tasha, Buhari Muhammad a.k.a. “General” of Bayya village, Ahmadu Nasiru of Gidan Waya, and Zakari Saleh.

Officers also recovered one AK-47 rifle and two locally fabricated AK-47 rifles.

In a separate breakthrough, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a suspicious waybill from Jos, Plateau State, bound for Gusau in Zamfara.

A search uncovered an AK-47 rifle concealed inside a sack.

This prompted further investigations, leading to the arrest of two men, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, who had arrived in Gusau to collect the firearm.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), backed by the X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol units, stormed a kidnappers’ hideout along Ibusa Road.

During the raid, officers arrested a 42-year-old notorious suspect, Chiadiji Collins, a.k.a. “Smooth,” linked to several kidnappings across Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku and Asaba.

A search of his home in Ewulu community, Aniocha South LGA, uncovered one AK-47 rifle and 40 rounds of live ammunition.

Another suspect, Ezechie Andrew, was later apprehended with two pump-action guns and live cartridges.

All suspects are in custody and are assisting ongoing investigations aimed at dismantling their wider criminal networks. They will be charged to court upon completion of the investigations.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the professionalism and bravery of the operatives, stressing that the operations were a testament to proactive intelligence gathering.

He assured Nigerians of the Force’s resolve to stay ahead of criminals through intelligence-led policing, inter-agency collaboration, and community partnership.

He further appealed to citizens to remain alert and provide timely information to security agencies to help sustain the fight against insecurity.
