The Nigerian Armed Forces have reported major strides in their campaign against insecurity in July 2025, with hundreds of terrorists neutralised, scores arrested, and significant quantities of stolen crude oil recovered.

In a press briefing by Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, it was revealed that the military eliminated several high-profile terrorist commanders including Yellow Danbokolo, Amir Dunkei, and Ali Yar Daribiyar.

A total of 578 suspects were arrested, and 134 kidnapped victims rescued across various theatres of operation.

Particularly notable was the surrender of 151 terrorists and their families, including a top commander, Ibn Ali, signalling what defence analysts believe could be a growing disillusionment within terrorist ranks.

In the Niger Delta, troops under Operation DELTA SAFE halted crude oil theft valued at over ₦1.3 billion.

They destroyed 73 illegal refining sites and confiscated nearly one million litres of stolen crude oil alongside vehicles, drums, boats, and other equipment used for bunkering.

Joint military efforts also yielded progress in the North East under Operation HADIN KAI, where operations spanning Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States led to the arrest of ISWAP terrorists and the safe recovery of explosives and weapons.

One of the suspects detained in Yobe was a foreign national unable to communicate in local Nigerian languages, hinting at foreign infiltration.

In the North West and North Central regions, troops responded to distress calls and conducted offensives in Zamfara, Katsina, Plateau, and Benue States, neutralising extremists, rescuing kidnapped victims, and recovering arms, ammunition, and vehicles.

In the South East, under Operation UDO KA, troops remained vigilant, arresting IPOB/ESN members and other criminal elements across Enugu, Imo, and Cross River States.

General Kangye reaffirmed the military’s commitment to professionalism, human rights, and strategic intelligence-led operations. “Our forces remain vigilant, ready, and resolute in facing current and emerging threats,” he said.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria continue to call on citizens for support, cooperation, and timely information sharing as they work to secure the country from all forms of criminality.
