Imo Now Safe and Open For Investment, Uzodimma Tells Diaspora In U.S.
Governor Hope Uzodimma has assured Imo indigenes in the United States that the state is now safer, more secure, and open for investment and tourism.
Speaking through the State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Declan Emelumba, at the Imo State Congress in America (ISCA) convention in Atlanta, Georgia, the governor said security has drastically improved since the early days of his administration.
He credited the transformation to close collaboration with the federal government, strong support for security agencies, and the establishment of well-funded community vigilante groups.
“With peace returning, we’re seeing a revival of nightlife and the hospitality sector,” Uzodimma noted. “We’re also pushing for 24-hour electricity across all 27 LGAs to enhance safety and create jobs.”
The governor encouraged Imo citizens abroad to visit home more often, noting that improved infrastructure and direct flights to Owerri via the Sam Mbakwe International Airport have made travel easier.
He highlighted key projects including major road reconstructions, the Assumpta Flyover, the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, and digital skills training for over 40,000 youths through the state’s OKOBI economic model.
Participants at the convention, including Attorney Charles Onyirimba and ISCA President Frank Ekeigwe, commended the governor for addressing security concerns and raising living standards through consistent salary payments and critical infrastructure.
