Customs Appoints New Men’s Team Captains Ahead Of 2025 CGC Volleyball League
As preparations heat up for the 2025 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has named national team star Philip Akande as the new captain of its senior men’s volleyball team.
Akande will be supported by Emmanuel Udah and Princewill Okoh as first and second captains, respectively, while Godfrey Isaac and Usman Ado have been appointed team coordinators.
According to a statement by NCS Head of Sports, Samuel Onikeku, the shake-up follows a two-week trial aimed at building a stronger squad after the team missed out on a podium finish last season.
“We’re ushering in a new chapter. This leadership team has what it takes to restore our winning spirit,” Onikeku said, adding that 18 players have been selected for the new season.
He urged the players to give their all, uphold the values of the service, and make Customs proud in the upcoming league campaign.
