FRSC Seeks Stronger Collaboration With Lagos State Government On Road Safety
In a bid to enhance traffic management and road safety in Lagos, the Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Friday, 11 July 2025.
The visit, which took place at the Lagos State Government House, centred on strengthening collaboration between the FRSC and state authorities to address the city’s evolving traffic challenges.
Commander Hamzat expressed gratitude to the Governor for the recent provision of patrol vehicles and motorcycles, describing them as vital tools for the Corps’ daily operations across Lagos.
He also raised key concerns including:
The persistent gridlock caused by truck movements around Apapa and Lekki ports, and the need to revisit the electronic call-up system.
Calls for more joint public enlightenment campaigns.
Real-time data sharing on traffic incidents through the Lagos Command and Control Room.
Reviving the State Road Safety Advisory Council (SARSAC) for better coordination.
In his response, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the FRSC’s commitment to saving lives and maintaining order on Lagos roads.
He assured continued government support, noting that effective traffic management remains a top priority for his administration.
“Lagos is the commercial heartbeat of Nigeria,” the Governor said. “We must continue to work in unison to ease the movement of people and goods.”
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling the state’s notorious traffic bottlenecks and promoting road safety for all.
