Eid-al-Adha: IGP Sends Warm Wishes, Rallies Nigerians For Peace, Unity
As Muslims across Nigeria prepare to celebrate Eid-al-Adha, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun, has extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah, calling for a spirit of tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.
In a statement released from Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP underscored the deep spiritual significance of the Eid season, urging Nigerians to emulate the virtues of past prophets and reflect on the values of kindness and unity that define Islam.
To ensure a hitch-free celebration, the police chief has ordered heightened security across the country. Commissioners of Police, Tactical Commanders, and supervising AIGs have been directed to beef up security at Eid grounds, recreational centres, and other public spaces. The police will also intensify intelligence-led patrols, surveillance, and stop-and-search operations to forestall any potential threats.
The IGP appealed to citizens to remain law-abiding and celebrate in an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood. He also encouraged Nigerians to be vigilant and report suspicious activities, stressing that the responsibility for national security lies with everyone.
Reaffirming the Force’s commitment to public safety and national cohesion, the IGP wished all Muslim faithful a joyful and reflective Eid-al-Adha.
