Eid al-Adha: Tuggar Urges Nigerians To Embrace Peace, Sacrifice, and Unity

As Muslims across Nigeria and the world mark Eid al-Adha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has called for renewed faith, national unity, and prayers for global peace.

In a heartfelt message, Tuggar described Eid al-Adha as a time for deep reflection, one that reminds us of the values of obedience, sacrifice, and resilience, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and upheld by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Minister, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, encouraged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for peace, especially in conflict-ridden regions like Gaza, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Tuggar expressed concern for Nigeria’s Internally Displaced Persons, offering prayers for their healing and dignity.

He also sympathised with the people of Mokwa in Niger State, where recent floods claimed lives and destroyed homes and urged Nigerians to rally behind those affected and support ongoing humanitarian efforts.

Recognising the courage of Nigeria’s security forces, the Minister applauded their tireless work in safeguarding the nation. “Their dedication is a source of hope and inspiration,” he said.

As Nigeria navigates complex global challenges, Tuggar reaffirmed his commitment to promoting the country’s interests through principled diplomacy. “This season invites us to renew our bond of shared humanity and recommit to a more peaceful and united Nigeria,” he concluded.
