Information Minister Applauds Kaduna Governor For Reviving State Ministry
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has commended Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Uba Sani, for re-establishing the state’s Ministry of Information, ten years after it was dissolved.
Describing the move as “proactive and visionary,” the Minister said it aligns perfectly with his call at the December 2024 National Council on Information meeting, where he urged states to prioritise communication institutions as tools for good governance and national unity.
“This decision marks a significant step towards transparent, citizen-focused governance,” Idris stated. “It shows Kaduna’s commitment to partnering with the federal government in building a harmonised and responsive information ecosystem.”
The Minister emphasised that the revived ministry would serve as a bridge between government and citizens, ensuring access to credible information on key national issues such as security, education, health, and the economy.
He added that it would also help counter misinformation and reinforce public trust through culturally sensitive communication.
According to a statement by the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Suleiman Haruna, Idris urged other states lacking functional information ministries to follow Kaduna’s lead, stressing that effective communication structures are essential for inclusive development and national cohesion.
