The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, on Monday, 20th May 2025, led the Nigerian delegation to the 53rd National Day celebrations of the Republic of Cameroon in Yaoundé.

Welcomed with warmth and pageantry, General Musa lauded the Cameroonian government for the reception and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with Cameroon and neighbouring nations in tackling regional security threats and driving socio-economic development.

This year’s celebration, themed “Army and Nation United for a Cameroon Turned Towards Peace and Prosperity”, highlighted the country’s unity and its vision for a peaceful future.

The event, popularly known as Unity Day, drew attendance from President Paul Biya, senior government officials, diplomats, and thousands of citizens and well-wishers.

The festivities featured military exhibitions, parades, and cultural displays, but a standout moment came with the stunning performance by the Nigerian Armed Forces.

As the first and only foreign contingent to participate, the Nigerian troops dazzled spectators with precise drills and vibrant musical presentations, earning thunderous applause.

A statement by the Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said their participation not only showcased Nigeria’s military excellence but also underscored the enduring defence partnership and shared commitment to regional peace and prosperity between the two nations.
