Minna-Abuja Inaugural Flight Showcases FG, State Collaboration For Development… Information Minister

Nigeria’s march towards greater connectivity and development took a significant leap as the inaugural commercial flight from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, signaling a strong synergy between the Federal Government and state administrations.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who was on board the Air flight, hailed the event as a powerful symbol of collaborative governance. “This is a shining example of how sub-nationals can align with the Federal Government to drive national development,” he said.
The airport, built by the Niger State Government under Governor Umaru Bago and named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a testament to the administration’s infrastructure-driven vision.
The Minister commended both President Tinubu and Governor Bago, noting their shared commitment to transforming the country’s economic and transportation landscape.
Governor Bago described the flight, which will now operates thrice weekly, as a “route opening flight” that positions Niger State for agricultural export, industrial growth, and global relevance.
“This is about opening Niger to the skies of the world,” Bago declared, adding that the state plans to leverage the new airport to boost agro-export and drive economic prosperity.
Among the dignitaries on board were former Niger State Governor Dr. Babangida Aliyu and Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi.
The flight marks not just a milestone for Niger State, but also a bold step towards national integration, improved logistics, and strengthened economic opportunities across Nigeria.
