Police Rescue 12 Kidnap Victims, Recover N10.3m, Weapons In Nationwide Sting Operations
In a major breakthrough against criminal elements across the country, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued 12 kidnapped victims, neutralised a suspected kidnapper, and recovered N10.3 million in cash alongside arms and ammunition.
In Imo State, officers in synergy with local vigilantes raided a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout in Okigwe LGA in the early hours of April 17.
A gun battle ensued, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, two pump-action guns, 18 live cartridges, digital devices, and over ten million naira suspected to be ransom proceeds.
Meanwhile, in Edo State, police responded swiftly to the abduction of 10 students traveling to Babcock University for the GYC Africa conference.
Following a fierce gunfight, the students were rescued unharmed, with one kidnapper neutralised.
Two more victims were rescued days later in a separate operation in Oluoke community.
Commending the efforts, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, hailed the bravery and resilience of the operatives, reaffirming the force’s commitment to public safety, human rights, and relentless crime-fighting.
