Togo Visit: NTAC DG Seeks To Bridge Language Gap for Stronger Nigeria–Benin Ties
In a strategic diplomatic move, the Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening regional integration through language exchange and technical cooperation.
Yakub, who led a high-powered delegation to the Republic of Benin on Monday, met with the country’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Eleonore Yayi Ladekan, in Cotonou.
The meeting focused on eliminating language barriers that hinder trade, development, and other bilateral engagements between the two countries.
“Our aim is to break the language wall that limits growth,” Yakub said, revealing plans to deploy English language teachers to Benin while encouraging reciprocal French learning in Nigeria. “When we understand each other better, we trade better, we grow better.”
Minister Ladekan praised Nigeria’s continued support and NTAC’s initiatives, particularly the Nigerian International School in Cotonou, which she said has positively impacted capacity development in the country.
She expressed Benin’s eagerness to expand its collaboration with Nigeria.
She also extended heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s consistent dedication to African unity and development.
Yakub was accompanied by top NTAC officials and representatives of the Nigerian Mission in Cotonou, while Minister Ladekan was flanked by senior Beninese officials.
