The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Osifo Tony Emefile as the new Director of Sports for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

DCP Osifo takes over from Commissioner of Police (CP) Patrick Atayero, who has held the position since 2020, spearheading significant advancements in police sports, including the successful organisation of the Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA).

With an impressive sports background, DCP Osifo is a former top striker for Police Machine FC, a past board member of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation, and a key figure in police athletics and scrabble development.

He also serves as the Force’s representative on the Nigeria Professional Football League’s League Management Committee.

The IGP congratulated the new Director and urged him to build on past achievements to further elevate sports development within the force.
