The Federal Government of Nigeria has strongly refuted allegations made by Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive recently tried for financial crimes, dismissing his statements as baseless and misleading.

In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government accused Gambaryan of spreading falsehoods to discredit Nigerian officials involved in his case.

The FG clarified that his first visit to Nigeria was discretionary, with no official government involvement.

However, when allegations of bribery surfaced, an investigation was immediately launched, despite no formal complaints.

His second visit, according to the statement, was part of a broader probe into currency manipulation through peer-to-peer platforms like Binance. Authorities accused Gambaryan’s team of obstructing investigations.

While Binance allegedly offered a $5 million settlement for his release, Nigeria opted for a more favorable resolution through diplomatic negotiations with the U.S.

Dismissing Gambaryan’s claims as an attempt to evade accountability, the government assured the public that both Nigerian and American judicial systems would fairly address any grievances.

It urged citizens to disregard his accusations, labeling them as unsubstantiated and intended to manipulate public perception.
