IGP Egbetokun Calls for Stronger Regional Policing at EAPCCO Summit In Kigali

Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has urged greater regional collaboration in tackling terrorism and transnational crime at the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation, EAPCCO, Annual General Meeting in Kigali.
Representing the West Africa Police Chiefs Committee, WAPCCO as Chairperson, he emphasised intelligence sharing, capacity building, and community engagement as key to effective policing.
Highlighting West Africa’s success with the WAPIS system, enhanced training, and grassroots outreach, Egbetokun called for stronger interregional cooperation. “By pooling resources and expertise, we can better combat our shared security challenges,” he stated.
The IGP, who is accompanied by senior officers, including CP Interpol, Olaolu Adegbite, commended EAPCCO’s leadership and pledged Nigeria’s commitment to advancing Africa-wide law enforcement cooperation.
The high-profile meeting, which runs from January 28 to 31, brings together top police officials and security experts from across the world to strengthen international law enforcement collaboration.
