From February 13 to 15, 2025, over 700 delegates from 66 countries will converge on Kigali, Rwanda for the fourth Global NCD Alliance Forum and discussions will be on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).

Despite causing over 43 million deaths annually, NCDs remain the most underfunded health challenge globally.

Hence, the forum aims to mobilise resources and solutions to mitigate their impact, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where the burden is heaviest.

The conference tagged “Leadership on NCDs Towards 2025 & Beyond,” the forum will address the growing burden of NCDs, which are projected to surpass infectious, maternal, neonatal, and nutritional diseases as the leading cause of mortality in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.

Key stakeholders, including Health Ministers, WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, and Civil Society leaders, will discuss critical topics such as political and community leadership, disease prevention, and funding for tackling diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart conditions.

“This forum is a significant step in amplifying Africa’s voice in the global fight against NCDs,” said Dr. Joseph Mucumbitsi, Chairperson of the Rwanda NCD Alliance.

This marks the first time the prestigious event will be held on African soil.

Media representatives are invited to attend the Official Opening Press Conference on February 13 at the Kigali Convention Centre.
