Nigeria and Egypt have elevated their bilateral ties to a “Comprehensive Partnership,” focusing on mutual respect for sovereignty, regional stability, and economic cooperation

This milestone was announced during the third round of political consultations in Cairo between Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty.

Both nations pledged to deepen collaboration on counter-terrorism, regional peacebuilding, and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which aims to transform the continent.

A highlight of the talks was the decision to waive visas for diplomatic passport holders and adjust visa fees, fostering stronger ties and easier movement between the two countries.

Plans are also underway to establish a Nigeria-Egypt Chamber of Commerce by 2025, promoting trade in agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.

This renewed partnership underscores a shared commitment to addressing Africa’s challenges and promoting integration.

The next Joint Committee session will take place in Abuja, in the last quarter of 2025 signaling continued momentum in their relationship.

The Nigerian delegation included the Minister of Water Resources, Prof. Joseph Utsev, and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari among others.
