FCT Police Command Seizes Firearms, Recovers Stolen Vehicles

As the spate of insecurity increases across the country, the FCT Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in combating violent crimes and vehicle theft, in the Federal Capital Territory, showcasing its unwavering commitment to public safety.
On December 26, officers swiftly responded to a distress call from a Guest House in Bwari, where gunfire was reported.
They discovered 29-year-old Andrew Philemon critically injured after being shot by 33-year-old Obinna Nwigwe, who claimed self-defense during a heated argument.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, say a search of Nwigwe’s residence uncovered a shocking arsenal, including firearms, ammunition, police uniforms, and even a bulletproof jacket.
The statement notes Philemon is receiving treatment at the National Hospital, while Nwigwe remains in custody pending further investigation.
It also said in a separate operation on December 29, police recovered a stolen vehicle in Suleja and arrested 45-year-old Evans Omagba, who confessed to the theft.
Two other stolen cars were also recovered, with efforts are underway to apprehend his accomplices.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, had while parading the suspects, called on residents to install security devices in their vehicles and report suspicious activities to enhance safety.
