Ndokwa Ukwuani Youth Summit, has spotlighted the collective aspirations and needs of the Ndokwa and Ukwuani communities.
Their endorsement of the creation of Anioma State, along with their articulated demands for employment, empowerment, reliable electricity, good roads, and clean water, underscores a strong desire for development and an improved quality of life.
The summit serves as a clarion call to the government and relevant stakeholders to address these issues promptly and effectively.
The Ndokwa Ukwuani Youth Association (NUYA) convened a Youth Summit that brought together hundreds of young leaders and representatives from various communities within the Ndokwa Nation presided by NUYA President General Chief Ifeanyi Kingsley Enuenwosu, also known as Chief Sen Rich Kay, the summit provided a platform to discuss pressing issues, propose solutions, and unify their stance on significant regional matters.
Support The Creation Of Anioma State
A primary resolution from the summit was the unanimous support for the proposed creation of Anioma State.
The youth believe that the establishment of Anioma State would lead to better governance, equitable resource distribution, and enhanced development for their communities.
According to Chief Sen Rich Kay, this new state would address the unique needs and aspirations of the people in the Ndokwa and Ukwuani areas, fostering a sense of identity and pride. “We will be led by those who are our own,” Chief Sen Rich Kay insisted.
Community Requests And Development Needs
The summit highlighted several critical areas where the Ndokwa and Ukwuani communities require urgent attention and intervention:
1. Employment Opportunities:
The youths emphasized the dire need for job creation. Unemployment remains a significant challenge, leading to socio-economic issues such as poverty and youth restiveness. They called for government and private sector initiatives to establish industries, support entrepreneurship, and create sustainable job opportunities.
Chief Sen Rich Kay responded by explaining the extensive efforts of Senator Prince Ned Nwoko in the area of employment, which was met with high ovation and applause from the attendees.
2. Empowerment Initiatives:
There is a strong demand for programs that empower the youth, including vocational training, skill acquisition programs, and access to microfinance. Empowerment initiatives are seen as essential for harnessing the potential of the youth, reducing dependency, and promoting self-reliance.
3. Electricity Supply:
The lack of consistent electricity supply hampers daily life and economic activities. The communities are calling for improvements in the power infrastructure to ensure reliable and steady electricity.
This would facilitate business operations, improve living standards, and attract investments.
Chief Sen Rich Kay informed the gathering about the significant moves Senator Nwoko has made to ensure that the Independent Power Plant (IPP) is stepped down in Delta North, which brought great joy to the people.
4. Good Road Infrastructure:
The condition of roads in Ndokwaland is a major concern. Poor road infrastructure affects transportation, trade, and access to essential services.
The summit called for the construction and maintenance of good roads to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost economic activities.
Chief Sen Rich Kay particularly highlighted the hazardous condition of the Agbor/Sapele road, especially the section in Obiaruku near Rico Palace Hotel, which poses significant risks to motorists and pedestrians. Immediate attention and repair of this road are crucial to prevent further accidents and fatalities.
However, Chief Enuenwosu also mentioned the Idumuje road down to Aboh and the over 30 billion naira Senator Nwoko has attracted to Delta North for road projects.
5. Pipe-borne Water:
Many communities in Ndokwaland suffer from a lack of clean drinking water.
The youth summit stressed the importance of providing access to clean, pipe-borne water to improve public health, reduce the incidence of water-borne diseases, and ensure the well-being of the population.
Youth President Generals from different communities across the three Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Ndokwa Nation were in attendance.
