In spite of increasing number of candidates writing for National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) Certificate annually, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has expressed worries about what he tagged demeaning of NABTEB Certificate
The Minister, who made the call while monitoring the 2022 NABTEB examinations at the Federal Government College Orozo , Abuja called for an end to the demeaning of NABTEB Certificate, saying that skill acquisition is what the government is promoting hence the need to prepare the skilled work force to take over the Nigerian business and Technical workspace.
According to the Minister, represented by the Director Human Resources of the Federal Ministry of Education, David Gende, people should stop demeaning the certificate, so that youths can pick up the skills that are required to stop those taking over the space especially the young ones who cannot continue after the O’level, to at least have some skills to carry on and take over the space.
He noted that government is presently directing students towards the sector as option for those who cannot fit into the formal sector or other professional areas of of their college.
Mallam Adamu, said there are other sound options that is acceptable anywhere, and can even contribute greatly to the development of our country.
For tlhe Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Ifeoma Isiugo Abanihe, eighty eight thousand, 88,000, candidates are taking part in the 2022 National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) Certificate.
According to her, the Board has been recording increase in numbers of candidates sitting for the examination since 2018 adding that the surge began in 2015 when they first recorded 55,000 enrollments for the examination while it increased steadily to 83,000 in 2018.
Isiugo Abanihe, disclosed that there is a significant increase in the enrollment for the 2022 examination, about 88,000 candidates applied to write the NABTEB examination nationwide.
