The police have foiled a suspected assassination attempt in Rivers State and arrested several suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and violent crime in separate operations across the country.

The suspects fled, abandoning an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of ammunition.
In Kano, police arrested a suspected kidnap and cattle-rustling gang leader believed to operate across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna States. The suspect reportedly provided information that could aid the arrest of other members of the syndicate.
