Police Operations Yield Arrests, Weapons, and Kidnapped Victim Across 10 States, FCT
The latest police operations across several states show a broad security push targeting kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, vandalism and drug-related crime, with officers making multiple arrests and recovering firearms, stolen property and other exhibits.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, operations between 2 and 5 September produced notable results in Nasarawa, Delta, Zamfara, Kwara, Abia, Oyo, Taraba, Enugu and the FCT.
In Delta State, police and local security personnel rescued a 60-year-old kidnapped victim, Nduka Omoyi, unharmed, after a gun battle forced his abductors to flee.
Several suspects were also arrested in separate operations in the state, while firearms, motorcycles and illicit drugs were recovered.
In Nasarawa, police intercepted fleeing armed robbery suspects following a gun battle, recovering a pump-action rifle and a stolen motorcycle. Another suspect was arrested in connection with the incident.
Security operations in Zamfara and Kwara also targeted banditry and kidnapping, with suspects arrested and cash, phones, a locally made bulletproof vest and firearms recovered.
Meanwhile, police in Taraba and the FCT disrupted suspected infrastructure vandalism, recovering vandalised NNPCL pipes and solar street-light equipment. In Enugu, three suspects were arrested over the alleged theft of government property.
The Force said investigations and manhunts are continuing in several of the cases, with some suspects handed over to other security agencies for further questioning.
