Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims, Recover N800,000 In Katsina
Six kidnap victims have been rescued after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA confronted terrorists who intercepted their vehicle along the Dandume–Sheme Road in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued unharmed after troops of Sector 2 responded to a distress call on Saturday, August 22, 2026, and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into nearby bushes.
The troops also recovered ₦800,000 allegedly taken from the victims and handed the money and their vehicle back to them in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.
In a separate operation on August 21, troops encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area.
The terrorists fled following an exchange of fire, while troops recovered a motorcycle during a subsequent search of the area.
The Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed the operations in a statement on Sunday.
The Joint Task Force said it would sustain patrols and offensive operations across the North-West, while urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security forces.
