FRCN At 75: Tinubu Pushes Media Overhaul To Reach Every Nigerian
As Nigeria’s media landscape evolves in the digital age, the Federal Government says strengthening public broadcasting remains central to keeping citizens informed and connected.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to modernising public media as the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) marks its 75th anniversary.
Speaking at the anniversary logo unveiling in Abuja, Idris revealed that new 50-kilowatt transmitters in Kaduna, Ibadan, Enugu and Gwagwalada will expand FRCN’s reach, reinforcing its role in Nigeria’s broadcasting space.
He stressed that beyond infrastructure, reforms are focused on transparency, accountability and citizen engagement, noting that a strong media and active populace are vital for democracy.
He described FRCN as a unifying national institution that has shaped public discourse for decades.
FRCN Director-General, Mohammed Bulama, said the milestone reflects both legacy and a renewed commitment to innovation, professionalism and public service broadcasting.
The event drew top media and government figures, including Sunday Dare and other industry leaders.
