Bloodshed In Jos Triggers Security Surge As Police Move To Prevent Wider Crisis

In a swift response to rising tensions and fears of escalation, Nigeria’s police leadership has ordered a large-scale security reinforcement following a deadly attack in Plateau State.

The Olatunji Rilwan Disu has condemned the killing of innocent residents in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.

Reacting to the violence, the IGP directed an immediate and massive deployment of security assets to the affected area, with a clear mandate to restore calm and bring perpetrators to justice.

He also dispatched the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, to Plateau State to assess the situation and coordinate ongoing security operations.

The police have since intensified efforts with the deployment of additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives, working alongside other security agencies to stabilise the region and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

While expressing condolences to the Plateau State Government and grieving families, the IGP assured residents that operations would continue until peace is fully restored.

He also directed commanders to ensure visible policing and strengthen engagement with vulnerable communities.

Citizens have been urged to remain calm, stay vigilant, and support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, while avoiding any form of self-help.
