Hope In Action: Anambra Ecumenical Centre Launches ₦500m Drive To Build Shelter For The Disabled In Aguleri
In a society where the most vulnerable are often the most forgotten, true faith is measured not by words, but by the lives it lifts.
This belief took centre stage in Aguleri, Anambra State, as the Anambra Ecumenical Centre unveiled a bold ₦500 million fundraising drive to build a dedicated centre and shelter for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable people.
To translate this vision into reality, the Centre has inaugurated a 21-member Fundraising Committee tasked with mobilising resources and coordinating activities for the Ecumenical Centre Building and Shelter for the Disabled in Aguleri.
The project aims to provide care, dignity and hope for people who are too often left without support.
The committee is chaired by Rev. Pastor Charles Onyeagba, Princess-Ekwi Edith Ajide and Hon. Lady Chinwe Mgbajiaka will coordinate the committee’s work as Coordinating Secretaries.
Other members include respected traditional rulers, clergy, professionals and community leaders such as HRM Igwe Dr Mike Idigo (Eze Aguleri), HRM Igwe Dr Charles Aduaka of Nteje Abogu, HRM Igwe Engr. Sir Augustine C. Emelobe (Eze Okpoko II of Oba), Prof. Charles Ochie, Rev. Fr Gabriel O. Ogbaji, Ven. Luke E. Ndife, Apostle Newton Joe Afam Nwosu, Barrister Tony Nwofor, Chief (Mrs) Edith N. Mike Ejezie, Apostle Sunday C. Obumneme, and others were committed to the cause including Chief Sir Anselm Okafor, Onowu Abba and Supreme Commander General of the Knights of Saint John’s International.
Organisers say the project goes beyond bricks and mortar. It is about restoring dignity to the disabled, offering shelter to the vulnerable, and creating a living testimony that compassion can be organised, funded and sustained.
The Centre also envisions the project as a unifying platform for Christians and well-meaning Nigerians to work together for a shared humanitarian goal.
Members of the public, corporate bodies, faith-based organisations and philanthropists are urged to support the ₦500 million fundraising drive, noting that every contribution, big or small, brings the dream closer to reality. Enquiries and support can be directed through the committee’s contact line: 08064006683.
