Nigeria Police, U.S. INL Deepen Security Partnership To Boost Tactical Capacity
In a renewed push to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security architecture, the Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its strategic partnership with the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), signalling deeper cooperation in training, equipment support and institutional capacity building.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, received the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. INL, Ms Maggie Nardi, and her delegation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where both sides reviewed ongoing areas of collaboration and explored new opportunities to enhance policing effectiveness.
Ms Nardi reiterated the INL’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police through expanded specialised training programmes and the provision of modern operational equipment, stressing that sustained collaboration remains key to strengthening institutional capacity and operational efficiency.
In his response, IGP Egbetokun commended the INL for its consistent support, particularly in tactical capacity development.
He highlighted the positive impact of INL-backed training on the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), noting improved professionalism, discipline and performance in recent operations.
The Police Chief also reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to deepening cooperation with international partners and adopting global best practices to improve service delivery and enhance public safety across the country.
