NUJ FCT’s Ebriku John Friday Appointed SSA On Data Analytics To Cross River Governor
Respected journalist and Ex-Officio member of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Ebriku John Friday (JP), has been appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Data Analytics to the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu.
The appointment, confirmed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, marks a significant milestone in Friday’s longstanding career in journalism, media innovation, and public advocacy.
Until his new role, Friday served as editor of the NUJ FCT online platform and managed several digital outlets under eHub Media Nigeria Ltd, including TheLeaderNG.com, Jabbama.ng, and DailyPatriot.ng.
He is also known for his work at Leadership Newspaper, where he rose through the ranks to top management roles.
In a statement, NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, described Friday as “a passionate journalist, mediapreneur, and advocate for youth empowerment,” whose work spans media, politics, and grassroots development.
Reacting to the appointment, Friday expressed deep appreciation to Governor Otu for the opportunity to serve and promised to bring his wealth of professional experience to bear in supporting the administration’s development goals.
He pledged to deliver his best in the new role and urged the people of Cross River, especially the youth, to partner with the government in realising the Renewed Hope agenda.
A proud son of Yala in Cross River, Friday holds a degree in Economics from the University of Abuja. He is the founder of Project1000, a civic forum for Yala professionals, and has been active in empowerment programmes since 2019.
Widely respected for his humility, community spirit, and commitment to development, he has earned accolades including the 2021 Niger Delta Youth Ambassador award and Media Personality of the Year at the 2023 Yala Achievers Awards.
Friday’s appointment has been welcomed across the board as a win for grassroots-driven leadership and data-informed governance in Cross River State.
