APC Elects Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda As New National Chairman

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as its new National Chairman, following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The decision was reached at the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Thursday, 24th July, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Prof. Yilwatda, a respected academic and former APC governorship candidate in Plateau State, was until his election serving as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

With a background that spans academia, governance, and electoral management, the new party helmsman brings a rich mix of expertise to the role.

He previously served as the Director of ICT at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and as the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State between 2017 and 2021.

He also played a strategic role during the 2023 elections as Director-General of the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign in Plateau State.

The APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON, in a statement congratulated Prof. Yilwatda, expressing hope that his wealth of experience would steer the party toward greater unity and success.

“We pray God, in His mercies, to grant him wisdom and grace to lead our great Party to greater heights,” Morka said.
