A misleading social media account posing as a source of information on Nigeria’s power grid has prompted a fresh warning from the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), which says the public must disregard any information published by the unauthorised platform.
The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has again disassociated itself from an unauthorised X (formerly Twitter) account operating under the name “Nigeria National Grid,” warning that it continues to spread misleading and unauthorised information about the nation’s electricity grid.
In a statement issued on 5 June 2026, NISO stressed that it does not own, manage, control or operate the account and has no affiliation whatsoever with those behind it.
The organisation said the operators of the account are unknown and are not authorised to speak on its behalf or represent its views.
NISO urged members of the public, media organisations and stakeholders not to quote, rely on or attribute any information published on the account to the agency, noting that such content does not reflect its official position, operations or activities.
As the entity responsible for managing Nigeria’s national grid, NISO said all official communications are released only through its verified platforms, including its website and authorised social media handles.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, accurate and responsible communication while encouraging the public to report any unauthorised use of its identity.
