Troops Foil Multiple Kidnap Attempts, Rescue 16 Victims In Plateau and Kaduna
Swift military interventions have once again highlighted the growing importance of rapid response in tackling kidnapping and highway insecurity across Nigeria’s North-Central region.
Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued at least 16 kidnapped and abducted victims after foiling multiple kidnap attempts in Plateau and Kaduna states within the last 48 hours.
In the most significant operation, troops deployed in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State rescued six passengers who were abducted after suspected kidnappers intercepted a commercial vehicle travelling from Lafia in Nasarawa State to Jos.
The victims were found during a search-and-rescue operation launched after troops discovered the abandoned vehicle along the Hawan Kibo-Rafin Sayin road.
The vehicle’s driver remains missing, with troops continuing efforts to locate him.
In a separate operation in Bokkos Local Government Area, soldiers thwarted an attempted abduction in Faggem Village and rescued a pastor and his wife.
The couple, who sustained injuries during the attack, were evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, while security forces intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, troops responding to reports of terrorists blocking a highway in Sanga Local Government Area rescued two injured passengers who had been kidnapped from a commercial vehicle.
Security personnel also recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm ammunition and have continued search operations to rescue other victims still in captivity.
Operation ENDURING PEACE said it remains committed to flushing out criminal elements from highways and communities, urging residents to provide timely and credible intelligence to security agencies.
