FRSC Operatives Return ₦3.7m Recovered From Fatal Crash Scene In Zaria
In a country where public trust in institutions is often tested, a group of FRSC operatives in Zaria has offered a rare but powerful example of integrity in action.
Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps attached to the Zaria Unit Command recovered ₦3,727,500 and other valuables worth about ₦500,000 from the scene of a fatal road crash and returned them to the victims and their families.
The crash occurred on Sunday, 15 March 2026, along the Zaria–Funtua Highway near Zaria Academy, involving a Toyota Corolla and a Peugeot 806 carrying nine passengers. One person died, while eight others sustained varying degrees of injury.
FRSC rescue teams responded to the distress call, administered first aid and evacuated the injured to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.
During the rescue and clearance operation, officials discovered the cash and valuables scattered at the scene.
The items were secured and later handed over on Monday, 16 March 2026, by the Zaria Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander Nasiru A. Falgore, in the presence of relatives and witnesses.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed praised the officers for their honesty and professionalism, describing the gesture as a reflection of the FRSC’s core values of integrity, accountability and service.
The beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude to the Corps, said the officers not only responded swiftly to save lives but also protected their property at a deeply vulnerable moment.
