Nigeria Pushes For Collective Action At Commonwealth Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
As global tensions, economic uncertainty and governance challenges continue to shape international relations, Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to working with global partners to advance peace, stability and shared prosperity.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, represented the country at the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting held at Lancaster House in London, where ministers from across the Commonwealth of Nations gathered to deliberate on pressing global challenges.
The meeting provided a strategic platform for foreign ministers to review emerging geopolitical issues and strengthen coordination ahead of the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Discussions during the session emphasised the need for stronger collective action among member states to advance peace, enhance economic resilience, and promote democratic governance across the Commonwealth.
Ambassador Tuggar joined his counterparts in reaffirming the Commonwealth’s role as a key multilateral platform for dialogue, cooperation and sustainable development.
Nigeria, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, remains committed to constructive multilateral engagement that supports shared progress, stability and prosperity across the Commonwealth community.
The statement was issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.
