2027 Elections: Gov Eno Urges Maturity, Peace As Political Season Nears
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has issued a timely call for restraint, maturity and mutual respect among politicians and citizens to safeguard the peace the State currently enjoys.
Governor Eno gave the charge at a special Inter-Denominational New Year Thanksgiving Service held at the International Worship Centre, Uyo, where he praised political leaders in the State for handling sensitive issues with maturity, a development he said has strengthened unity and progress.
The Governor urged residents to engage respectfully as politics intensifies, stressing that disagreement should never descend into insults or actions capable of destabilising the State.
According to him, peace remains a collective responsibility that must be protected, regardless of political differences.
He also used the occasion to explain the newly introduced Treasury Single Account (TSA), noting that all government revenues must now pass through a single account to enhance accountability and boost the State’s revenue base.
Governor Eno disclosed that the N1.5 trillion budget requires collective discipline and compliance to ensure effective implementation.
The Thanksgiving service featured prayers, praise sessions and a sermon by the Founder of Eternity Network International, Apostle Joshua Selman, who charged believers to remain humble, trust God and focus on divine possibilities in challenging times.
Commending the Governor, the State Chairman of CAN, Bishop Chris Nyong, applauded the sustained peace in Akwa Ibom and urged continued unity as the political season unfolds.
