A renewed push by Nigerian troops to deny terrorists freedom of movement in the North-East has yielded another decisive victory, reinforcing growing pressure on insurgent networks across Borno State.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), neutralised five terrorists and rescued three abducted civilians during a coordinated offensive in Konduga Local Government Area.

The operation took place in the early hours of 4 January 2026 at a known terrorist crossing point along the Sojiri axis.

Military sources said the troops engaged the insurgents with precision, eliminating the five without sustaining any casualties.

Weapons recovered from the scene included AK-47 rifles and other assorted items believed to have been used for criminal activities.

According to OPHK, the operation underscores the military’s sustained commitment to aggressive, intelligence-driven offensives while prioritising the safety of civilians.

It also highlights the growing impact of collaboration between the Armed Forces and local security groups in degrading terrorist capabilities.

The military noted that troop morale remains high, with security forces continuing to dominate the operational environment despite evolving threats.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and stability across the North-East.
