FG Slams Fake ‘ADP4VIP’ Plot, Reaffirms Commitment To Rule Of Law
At a time when political tension often feeds speculation, the Federal Government has moved swiftly to draw a clear line between lawful governance and deliberate misinformation.
The government has dismissed as entirely false a document circulating online which alleges the creation of a secret multi-agency task force aimed at arresting and prosecuting opposition figures under a fictitious programme dubbed “ADP4VIP.”
According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, no such initiative exists, describing the claims as a calculated attempt to mislead the public and undermine democratic institutions.
Idris stressed that the Tinubu administration remains firmly focused on its core priorities, economic reforms, tackling insecurity, expanding trade, and rebuilding investor confidence, rather than engaging in political witch-hunts.
He warned that portraying lawful accountability as political persecution is a dangerous tactic designed to shield influential individuals from facing the law.
Reaffirming Nigeria’s democratic foundations, the minister noted that the Constitution guarantees freedom of association and political participation, rights President Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore to uphold. He added that law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies operate independently and strictly within the bounds of due process.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, the Federal Government cautioned Nigerians to expect a surge in disinformation and urged citizens to reject false narratives aimed at stirring division, insisting that governance will not be derailed by what it described as “perpetual politicking.”
