Christmas Message: Bishop Ezeofor Calls For People-Centred Policies, Stronger Security

As Nigerians marked Christmas amid economic strain and insecurity, a senior Anglican cleric has urged leaders to place the welfare of citizens at the heart of governance.

The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has called on the Federal Government to urgently implement people-oriented policies that will ease the growing hardship faced by Nigerians.

In his Christmas message, Bishop Ezeofor expressed concern over the rising cost of living, attributing widespread suffering to ineffective economic policies.

He appealed to the government to adopt realistic and practical solutions capable of improving living conditions and restoring hope among the populace.

The Bishop, who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC), Nigeria, condemned the persistent surge in kidnapping and banditry across the country, describing it as a clear sign of deep-seated insecurity.

He urged authorities to deploy coordinated and decisive strategies to strengthen national security, stressing that safety is key to rebuilding public trust and confidence in Nigeria’s future.

Reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas, Bishop Ezeofor said the season symbolises love, sacrifice and compassion.

He encouraged wealthy Nigerians to support the less privileged and called on citizens to promote peace and unity, warning against actions that undermine social harmony.

The message, signed by the Director of Media and Communications of Aguata Diocese, Mr Abuchi Nwozor, urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in faith despite current challenges.

Bishop Ezeofor reassured citizens that the nation’s difficulties are temporary and expressed optimism that better days lie ahead, wishing Nigerians a joyful Christmas and a prosperous 2026.
