Peace, Praise and Policing: Nigeria Police Light Up Abuja With ‘Prince Of Peace’ Carol
In a season often defined by noise and haste, the Nigeria Police Force offered Abuja a moment of calm, reflection and unity, reminding the public that peace is both a promise and a responsibility.
The serene atmosphere unfolded at the Police Christmas Carol tagged “Prince of Peace”, where faith, culture and service blended seamlessly in a colourful celebration of the birth of Christ.
The event drew an array of church leaders, political figures and senior security officials, all united by scripture, song and shared hope for a more peaceful Nigeria.
One after the other, Christian leaders and political dignitaries took turns to read passages from the Holy Scriptures, reinforcing the timeless message of love, humility and peace that Christmas represents.
The readings set a reflective tone, putting the audience in a jubilant mood.
A highlight of the evening was the moving “we wish you a nerry Christmas” performance by students of the FCT School for the Blind, whose soulful renditions stirred deep emotions and earned a standing ovation.
Their voices, rich with faith and resilience, served as a powerful reminder that the spirit of Christmas transcends physical limitations.
Adding colour and excitement to the night were vernacular carol renditions that thrilled the crowd, celebrating Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity.
The familiar melodies, delivered in indigenous languages, resonated strongly with the audience, creating moments of joy and shared identity.
Equally captivating were the police officers themselves.
Elegantly dressed in abada attire sown in different styles, officers took turns to lift the air with melodious carols, dispelling the usual image of uniforms and authority.
Their melodious voices showcased a softer, human side of the Force, drawing cheers and admiration from guests.
Beyond the music and pageantry, the carol underscored the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to peace-building, community engagement and national cohesion, especially during a season that calls for love and understanding.
As the final notes faded into the Abuja night, one message remained clear that peace is not only preached, but must be lived, sung and shared.
