Troops Foil Boko Haram Abduction Of 74 NYSC Members In Borno

Quick-thinking troops of Operation Hadin Kai have averted what could have been another national tragedy after rescuing 74 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from a possible Boko Haram abduction in Borno State.

The corps members, 36 males and 38 females, were travelling along the Buratai, Kamuya road on Tuesday night when their buses broke down near a notorious kidnapping hotspot.

According to a military report, a CCTV surveillance system detected unusual movement around 9:05 p.m., prompting the swift deployment of a patrol team.

“On arrival, troops discovered 74 NYSC members stranded after their vehicles developed mechanical faults.

The troops immediately rescued them to prevent a likely abduction attempt by Boko Haram or ISWAP elements,” said Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai.

The rescued corps members are currently being sheltered at the Buratai military base pending arrangements for their safe onward movement.
