Awogu Slams Fundraising By Ogbaru Leaders Ahead Of Soludo’s Visit

As Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s visit to Ogbaru Local Government Area draws near, controversy has erupted over reports that some community leaders are collecting money to “impress” the governor, a move strongly condemned by Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, National Coordinator of the Ikemba Front and APC Director of Administration.

Awogu described the fundraising as “misguided and unnecessary,” arguing that Ogbaru had little to show for the state’s hefty monthly allocations of over ₦2 billion from oil revenue, FAAC, and internally generated funds.

“Idiocy is when someone mismanages your common patrimony for nearly four years and does absolutely nothing,” Awogu fumed, accusing the Soludo administration of neglecting Ogbaru despite its contributions to the state’s economy.

He urged community leaders to channel the money into pressing local needs, hiring doctors for Ossomala General Hospital, equipping 33 primary healthcare centres, supporting education, and aiding flood victims still awaiting relief.

Awogu challenged those spearheading the collections to name a single tangible project the Soludo government has delivered in Ogbaru, saying, “The contributors should be pitied, not praised.”
