NAWOJ FCT Urges Renewed Commitment To Nation-Building At 65
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary with a call for unity, equity, and justice.
In a message signed by the council’s Secretary, Nkiruka Okeke, on behalf of the Chairperson, Bassey Ita Ikpang, the association described Independence Day as both a celebration of resilience and a reminder of the sacrifices that laid the foundation of freedom.
The statement commended women, children, and NAWOJ members in the FCT for their strength and dedication, noting that female journalists play a vital role in amplifying voices, shaping national narratives, and holding leaders accountable.
“As female journalists, we carry the responsibility of amplifying voices, shaping narratives, and holding leaders accountable for a Nigeria where equity, justice, and opportunities are not just ideals but realities,” the message read.
NAWOJ FCT urged members and citizens alike to embrace patriotism, peace, and progress, while reaffirming its commitment to building a Nigeria where every woman and child can thrive and where journalism continues to stand as a beacon of truth.
