Anambra Shines Bright At 2025 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards

Anambra State has once again proven its dominance in Nigeria’s education sector, clinching an impressive nine national awards at the 2025 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards held at Eagle Square, Abuja.

The highlight of the event came when Woliwo Primary School II, Onitsha, emerged as the overall best school in Nigeria, receiving the coveted star prize of a 16-seater bus. This feat underscores Anambra’s commitment to quality education and academic excellence.

Other awardees from the state include Pinkberry International School, Odume Obosi, which bagged the first runner-up award for the best approved private primary school.

At the same time, Emmanuel Ndibe of St. Theresa’s Secondary School, Enugwu Ukwu, and Nkechi Ikedi of Pinkberry International School, Odume Obosi, were honoured as first runners-up in the best private senior and primary school teacher categories, respectively.

Also celebrated were: Government Secondary School, Ojoto, First runner-up, best public junior secondary school.

Cosmas Nwata of Igbariam Farm Settlement Primary School – First runner-up, best public primary school teacher.

Amaka Ubaka of Prince Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha – First runner-up, best public senior secondary school administrator.

Okafor Ngozi of Community High School, Nkwelle Ezunaka, First runner-up, best public junior secondary school administrator.

Edozieobi Nnenna of Model Primary School, Akabor Ojoto – First runner-up, best public primary school administrator.

Each awardee also received a laptop computer as part of the national recognition for outstanding performance.

The awards were presented by the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa, who commended Anambra for consistently raising the bar in educational excellence and innovation.
