Police PRO Hundeyin Seeks Stronger Media Partnership At NUJ FCT Visit

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, has urged journalists to strengthen collaboration with the police in order to build public trust and enhance national security.

Hundeyin made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory Council, where he stressed that effective policing relies heavily on information sharing.

“I cannot succeed in this role without the collaboration of the press,” he said, warning that negative and unbalanced reporting could weaken public confidence in the police and limit vital intelligence from citizens.

He assured the NUJ that the police would continue to protect lives and property while also pledging fair treatment of journalists in the course of their duties.

In response, NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, welcomed Hundeyin’s outreach, describing it as a genuine step towards open dialogue.

She reaffirmed the council’s stance against harassment of journalists and highlighted the need for accurate and timely reporting to strengthen public confidence in security agencies.

“Together, we can stop the spread of misinformation and promote reporting that helps society move forward,” she said, pledging the council’s readiness to partner with the police for the greater good.

Hundeyin was received by the NUJ FCT leadership, including Secretary Comrade Jide Oyekunle, Assistant Secretary Ms Sharon Emefia, Auditor Rosemary Ukoko-Tega, Financial Secretary Henry Daniel Abimiku, and Ex-Officio 1, Ebriku John Friday.
