Collaboration Key To Reviving NISLT Infrastructure – Esuabana
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mrs Esuabana Nko Asanye, has stressed that collaboration is vital to restoring the dilapidated infrastructure of the Nigerian Institute of Science and Laboratory Technology (NISLT), Abuja.
Speaking during an inspection visit to the institute on Wednesday, Esuabana called for partnerships with the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, sister agencies, and stakeholders to renovate and restructure the facility for effective use.
She emphasised the institute’s mandate to safeguard and advance science laboratory practice in Nigeria, maintaining high ethical standards and expanding its presence to all six geopolitical zones for wider national impact.
The Acting Director-General of NISLT, Dr Peter Oluwafisoye, thanked the Permanent Secretary for the visit, lamenting that poor infrastructure and lack of equipment have hindered the institute from fulfilling its duties.
He welcomed collaboration with government and private partners to transform the institute into a model institution.
Also speaking, Mrs Emma Ekpo, Deputy Director, Reform Coordination Service Improvement and Innovation, noted that the visit would help the ministry address NISLT’s challenges effectively.
