Court Jails Eight Internet Fraudsters In Benin City

The Edo State High Court in Benin City has sentenced eight men to prison for internet fraud.

Justice M. Itsueli, delivering judgement on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, convicted the offenders following their guilty pleas to charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The convicts, Friday Osamudiamenwen, Monday Moses, Wisdom Idahosa, Osazuwa Oghomwen, Christopher Victor, Odion Desmond Osas, Monday Louis Adagboyin, and Bright Ogbiede faced separate charges ranging from advance fee fraud to possession of fraudulent documents.

Justice Itsueli handed each of them a two-year jail term with the option of fines ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦300,000.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of their phones, laptops, and funds traced to their bank accounts, which were identified as proceeds of crime.

The EFCC said the fraudsters were arrested after credible intelligence revealed their involvement in online scams.

In addition to their sentences, the convicts signed undertakings to be of good behaviour.
