Over 69,000 Nigerians Pre-Register Online For Voter Registration In Just Seven Hours
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded a massive response to its online Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with 69,376 Nigerians pre-registering within just seven hours of the portal going live on Monday, 18th August 2025.
Figures released by the Commission show that women made up the majority with 35,573 registrants (51.3%), while men accounted for 33,803 (48.7%).
Young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 34 dominated the process, representing 69.2% (48,033) of all registrants.
The online registration platform, available 24/7 at cvr.inecnigeria.org, allows eligible Nigerians to pre-register ahead of the in-person option, which begins on Monday, 25th August 2025 at 811 INEC offices nationwide.
In-person registration will run weekdays, 9.00am to 3.00pm, enabling new registrants and those who need to complete online applications to do so.
INEC stressed that only citizens aged 18 and above who have not previously registered are eligible.
Double or multiple registrations remain illegal, though transfers and replacement of lost or damaged voter cards are permitted.
The Commission has promised to release weekly updates with state-by-state, gender, age, occupation, and disability breakdowns as the exercise progresses.
