INEC Assures Ready For Saturday’s Bye-Elections, Resumes Voter Registration Monday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says all is set for bye-elections in 16 constituencies across 12 states this Saturday, 16th August 2025.

The polls will cover two senatorial districts in Anambra and Edo, five federal constituencies, and nine state constituencies, alongside two court-ordered re-runs in Anambra and Kano.

INEC confirmed that non-sensitive materials have been delivered, BVAS devices configured, ad hoc staff trained, and final sensitive materials dispatched. Campaigns end at midnight today.

In a related development, nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) resumes on Monday, 18th August, with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration from 25th August at 811 designated offices nationwide.

Citizens can also transfer their registration or replace damaged/lost PVCs during the exercise.

INEC will also publish the personal particulars of 637 candidates contesting the 68 seats in next year’s FCT Area Council elections on 18th August, urging Nigerians to scrutinise the documents and challenge any false claims in court.

The final candidate list will be released on 22nd September 2025.
