NTTF, ITTF Africa Lauded For World-Class Lagos Table Tennis Showcase
The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) and ITTF Africa have earned glowing praise for flawlessly hosting five major back-to-back table tennis events in Lagos, drawing continental and global attention to the sport in Africa.
Between 16 July and 5 August, Lagos played host to the West Africa Regional Championships, Africa Hopes Week & Challenge, WTT Contender Lagos 2025, ITTF African Youth Championships, and the ITTF-African Youth Cup, a packed calendar that showcased both elite competition and rising talent.
In a congratulatory letter to ITTF Africa President Wahid Oshodi and NTTF President Engr. Ishaku Tikon, the International Table Tennis Federation hailed their commitment and professionalism, noting that the events provided “invaluable opportunities for athletes to develop their sporting careers” while placing African table tennis firmly in the spotlight.
The NTTF also broke new ground by launching its Virtual Table Tennis Esports initiative, aligning with ITTF’s vision to integrate esports into the sport’s global future.
With just 15 months until the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the success of the Lagos events has further cemented the city’s status as a premier table tennis hub.
