Thrilling Encounters Mark ENIC Matchday As Clubs Shine Across Groups
It was a weekend of exhilarating football and sportsmanship as clubs under the Eastern Nigeria Inter-Club Competition (ENIC) locked horns on Saturday, 11th October 2025, in a series of tightly contested fixtures that thrilled spectators across the region.
In Group A, Recreation Club Orlu edged Owerri Sports Club 3–2 in a pulsating encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats, while Oguta Recreation Club also secured a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Safari Recreation Club.
Group B saw a dominant display from S.T.D.C. Owerri, who cruised past Portharcourt Club with an emphatic 5–0 win, showcasing tactical brilliance and team cohesion.
Over in Group C, Onitsha Country Club proved too strong for Enugu Sports Club, recording an impressive 4–1 victory to cap off an exciting day of competition.
Expressing his gratitude after the successful outing, ENIC Chief Referee and Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee, Akagha Samuel, thanked the participants and organisers for their commitment to fair play and excellence.
“Thank God for a wonderful outing. I really appreciate everyone’s contribution to this success. May the Almighty God bless us all in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen,” he said.
A minute’s silence was observed across the board in honour of the late President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Engineer Ifedayo Akindoju.
