NLO U-19 Youth League Kicks Off In Abuja With Barr. Akintade Bocknor On Ceremonial Duties
Grassroots football took centre stage in Abuja as the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) U-19 Youth League kicked off at the Hovel Prime Stadium, Nyanya, with Federal Capital Territory Football Association board member, Barrister Akintade Bocknor, performing the ceremonial kick-off.
Representing NLO Chairman, Silas Agara, Barr. Bocknor praised the league’s leadership for its bold and innovative vision, particularly the creation of the U-19 structure aimed at nurturing young talents and tackling age cheating. “This is about catching them young while upholding integrity and fair play,” he said.
The curtain-raiser saw G-Medix FC dominate Olympic Hybrid FC in a commanding 5–0 victory, setting the tone for a season expected to be fiercely competitive.
The league will run simultaneously across the country, serving as a talent pipeline to professional football and national teams.
A strong line-up of football administrators, coaches, and stakeholders attended the event, underscoring the shared commitment to grassroots football development in the FCT and across Nigeria.
